Combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR) means looking beyond our immediate horizons and working as part of the wider pharmaceutical value chain to effect change.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is listed as one of the top-ten threats to global health by the World Health Organization (WHO). Many of the treatments and medical procedures we take for granted today are impossible without antibiotics – and we must safeguard these essential medicines for future generations. Without action, by 2050, the number of AMR-linked deaths is projected to reach 10 million a year.

We believe even one death through AMR is too many. While responsible consumerism is important, the pharmaceutical industry needs to step up and play its part in preventing resistance. We believe sustainable production can be a potent weapon in the fight against AMR.

At Centrient, this belief is at the heart of everything we do. From our operational and waste management processes across our global sites to our responsible procurement programmes, and our work advocating sustainable antibiotics practices, we will never stop fighting for a safer, healthier, AMR-free future. As a society, we face the fight of our lives – but, by working together, it’s a fight we can win.
